North Carolina Land Grant: p. 400-1, 7 Aug 1787. Land Grant #787 to Mary Duggard; 226 acres on both sides of the Watoga [Watauga] River. Cons: 50 shillings per 100 acres. [Signed] Rd. Caswell, by J. Glasgow. [Washington County, Tennessee Deeds, 1775-1800, by Loraine Rae, pg. 58].

Notes

There is no direct proof that Mary Dugger, widow, is the widow of William Dugger Sr, but it seems likely.

Mary's maiden name is unknown. Many list her as a Kincaid, and a sister of Andrew Greer's wife, but this has been debunked.

Mary Dugger was listed on the 1774 Surry Co., NC tax list.

On 25 Jul 1785 the Wilkes Co., NC court ordered the road to be cleared from Ben Howards to "widow Duggers" and John Nauthern was overseer.

On 11 Aug 1787 Mary Duggard received a state land grant (# 787) for land in Washington Co., NC (later TN) on both sides of Watauga River.

That is the last record found for Mary Dugger.
