    TREFREY, Mary, d. Joshua and Mary, bp. Mar. 22, 1767. CR1

  2. "Mary Terfry" married in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, in 1788, Robert McKinnon.

    According to the Vital records of Marblehead, Massachusetts to the end of the year 1849, there were only three Mary Trefrys born in the right time frame:
    * Mary - d. John and Mary bp. Nov 13 1763 in Marblehead
    * Mary - d. Joshua and Mary, bp. Mar 22, 1767 Marblehead
    * Mary - d. John and Mary, bp. June 5, 1773 Marblehead

    The second Mary baptised in 1773 indicates that the Mary born to John's wife in 1763 died. So, it would seem (unless McKinnon married a 15 year old girl, which is possible but unlikely) that it is the Mary born to Joshua's wife that married Robert McKinnon.

    Note in response to the above: There is John Trefry (4th) m. 1750/51 Mary Brown and John Trefry m. 1759 Mary Sweedland. Also Mary, d. John 3d and Mary, bp. Nov. 30, 1760, which overlaps with Agnes, d. John and Mary, bp. May 11, 1760, indicating both are having children at the same time. (A John with wife Tabitha died sometime before June 1760, apparently turning John 4th into John 3rd between marriage and birth of daughter Mary.) There are no children to either John and Mary couple between 1766 and 1773. John Trefry and Mary Sweedland were said to have gone to Nova Scotia about 1766 (here) along with Joshua, so the 1773 birth may belong to neither Nova Scotia family. If any possibility of a recording or transcribing error is considered, there is another John Trefry who m. 1774 Mary Allen and could be potential parents of the 1773 Mary.
