Mary became blind at age of 7 or 8. She graduated Cleveland State with a degree. She worked for Prudential Life Ins. Co. as a programmer before her health got so bad she had to retire. She sold the family home in Fairfield, NJ and moved to Cleveland, Ohio.

She always tried to adopt her guide dogs once they retired from service. When she died, she had one retired dog, her current dog, and two cats.
