We have copies of two newspaper articles citing the work of two relations of Mary Ann's. One is about Rev. Dr. F. G. Stevens. He appears in be the son of Mary Ann's daughter Mary Ann. The article datelined, Norway House, Manitoba Aug. 10, 1946. It says Rev. Dr. F. G. Stevens, 77, known among his colleagues as "Stevens of Fisher River" died here. Dr. Stevens had completed 50 years of misionary work among Cree Indians in Northern Manitoba, and had for some time been recognized as a world authority on Cree syllabics. Mary Ann, the daughter, also had a married name of Stevens. The other article is about a dauther of Dr. Stevens or the daughter of his brother Will. The article is from an unnamed newspaper from 1947 with the dateline Vernon (manitoba). It has a picture of Alice Stevens. It is headlined, Vernon Home Economist Gets New Post. It says in part, One of this city's most promanent women is leaving for new work at the University of Saskatchewan. She is Miss Alice Stevens, B.Sc, in home economics, who will be assistant director, women's work in the extention department of the prairie university. Her new duties begin August 1. A graduate of University of Manitoba, Miss Stevens taught in the Guelph Collegiate-Vocational Institute for three years before coming here in 1926, to teach home economics in Vernon High School. She resigned in 1942 to undertake laboratory work on dehydrated foods for overseas shipment. Educational publicity in connection with processed fruits and vegetables has also been her work.
