!BIOGRAPHY: John, the second son of Daniel Baker, was born October 3, 1847. He married Mary Jane Smith, daughter of Peter Smith of Halfmoon, on October 5, 1870. They first lived in Mechanicville but later moved to a farm which they bought near the Smith home. One son, Hiel S., was born to them June 21, 1871, and died October 13,1872. Several years later they sold the farm and built a home on the hill west of Mechanicville. John died on Sept.29, 1928, and Mary Jane on October 3, 1929. They are buried in the Hudson View Cemetery.
