Mary S. Merz Retired seamstress Mary Schreyer Merz, 92, formerly of Ellis Ferry Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, at Peachtree Centre. A native of Hartley, Delaware, she was the widow of Andrew Edward Merz and daughter of the late Walter B. Schreyer and the late Gertrude Seaman Schreyer. She was a retired seamstress, a member of Christ The King Church in Shelby and a former member of ILGWUA. Surviving are three daughters, Patricia Quinn of Apex, N.C., Louise Butler of Blacksburg and Carol Borab of Lake Carmel, N.Y.; two sons, Dennis Merz of Chiefland, Fla., and George Merz of Slidell, La.; a brother, William Schreyer of Nanvet, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at Christ The King Church in Shelby, conducted by the Rev. Vernon Moore. Interment will be in Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, N.Y. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior the service. Memorials may be made to Christ The King Church, 1311 S. Lafayette St., Shelby, N.C. 28152. |
