Hezekiah Scammon m. about 1702 Mary Scammon, d/o Humphrey Scammon of Kittery, whose will in 1713 named her as Mary Pudington, but whose probate in 1727 shows her as wife of Jonathan Paine of Truro whom she married 19 Jun 1719. She d. 17 May 1760 in 79th year per gravestone.

  3. The probate information in the Cape Cod Library would seem to conclusively refute the misinformation found in several sources (e.g., Source:Goodale, Benjamin N. Material for a Genealogy of the Scammon Family in Maine (1892)) that suggest Mary is the wife of John Purrington, who had a wife Mary. This seems solely based on her father's will in 1713 calling her Mary Pudington, a condition also satisfied by a marriage to Hezekiah Purrington. And as John Purrington's wife appears to have been his wife in 1668, she was too old to be Humphrey Scammons' daughter (See Source:Putnam's Historical Magazine (Eben Putnam): Goodale's material is published in volume 1, while an article in Scammon%22&pg=PA198 Volume 9 suggests the first article is wrong.
