From Margaret Swanson

Searching Hebron is a bit tricky. The earliest records are found in Hartford Co.; later probate records are found in Andover, Tolland Co.; however, Windham Co. has the probate records for 100 or so years ending about 1826. Hebron boundaries shifted several times--unfortunately it means searching not only Tolland records but also [Marlborough] Hartford, [Lebanon, Colchester] New London and Windham counties.

The Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island Atlas of Historical County Boundaries, John H. Long, Editor. Simon & Schuster 1994 shows the changes in the COUNTY boundaries. This will be found in libraries with decent genealogical sections. Unfortunately this atlas does not show the changes in the TOWN boundaries.

Probate district boundaries do not coincide with the county or town boundaries. See the Index of Probate Records in Charles W. Manwaring's Early CT Probate Records Vol. I for these changes. [his books have been put on a CD].

The records are probably there--just not where you expect!
