Mary Reeves was baptised on 19th August 1798 at Aston Clinton in Buckinghamshire, daughter of Thomas and Joanna Reeves.
On 10th July 1819, aged twenty, Mary was married to Thomas Bent at Luton, about seventeen miles north-east of Aston Clinton. Thomas was from Luton and they settled there after their marriage, having eight children there between 1821 and 1839. The 1841 census finds the family living at Dunstable Street in the town, with Thomas working as an agricultural labourer. By 1851 they had moved to Park Street, and Mary was described as a sewer and plaiter, working in Luton's straw hat industry.
Thomas died in 1857, aged 64. The 1861 census finds Mary living at 2 Old Yard with her daughter Elizabeth. Mary died in 1864, aged about 66.
