Mary, 3rd daughter of John Pullen, Fore St., London, was married by Rev. W. Pullen, to Captain Waterfield of Bombay Army, 16jul1828 at Caversham, Oxfordshire (Times). Mary Pullen married William Hill Waterfield 16jul1828 at Caversham, Oxfordshire (IGI). The curate of Caversham (1827-30) was William Pullen, b. Cripplegate, London, son of Joseph (clergy list). William Pullen (b. Cripplegate, London, son of Joseph) went to Clare College, 1823, and was rector of Little Gidding from 1831 (Alumni Cantabrigiensis). It is interesting that Mary Benwell, the mother of Francis E.J. Valpy, came from Caversham (Cambridge alumni, entry on Abraham John Valpy). Mary, wife of Capt. W.H. Waterfield and daughter of John Pullen, esq., Fore St., London, d. 6may1829 in her passage to Bombay, on board the “General Kyd” (Times). William Hill Waterfield had previously married Maria Dowling in 1822 and later had a son in abt 1837 (web, tamburlane.co.uk); he (1801-42) was a captain in E. India army in 1838, and later became a major (web). In 1834 the lady of Capt W H Waterfield, 14th NI, had a daughter at Bombay (Asiatic Journal). References
