The Osceola Record, Obitutary for Mary C. Joy. "Died at Bassett, Nebraska of dropsy of the heart on Monday Nov. 14, 1887 Mary C. wife of James M. Joy aged 43 years. The deceased had been a great sufferer for several months but was not convined to her bed, and died sitting in her rocking chair. On Wed. the body accompanied by the sorrowing husband and motherless children arrived at Silver Creek and was brought to Osceola and buried in the family lot in the cemetary. Funeral took place at the M.E. Church Wednesday I6. Rev. Mather Officiating. Mr and Mrs. Joy were former residents of Osceola.".
