March 27, 1799 - Removal Order

"To the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Nunney in the said county, to execute and convey. And to the churchwardens and overseers of the Poor of the Parish of Bradford in the County of Wilts to receive and obey.

For as much as Complaint hath been made unto us, whose Hands and Seals are hereunto Subscribed and set two of his majesty's Justices of the Peace, of and for the said County of Somerset (whereof one is of the Quorum) by you the Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Nunney in the said County of Somerset. That Benjamin Star lately came and intruded himself into the said Parish of Nunney in the said County of Somerset endeavouring there to settle as an Inhabitant thereof, contrary to Law, not having any way acquired or obtained a legal Settlement therein, and is becom chargeable thereunto: We do, upon due Examination, adjudge the said Complaint and Premises to be true.--And we do further, upon the Examination of Mary Star mother of the said Benjamin Star taken upon her Oath adjudge, That the said Benjamin Star was last legalley settled in the said parish of Bradford in the County of Wilts aforesaid.

These are therefore, in his Majesty's Name, to require, order and command you, the said Churchwardens and Overseers of the Poor of the said Parish of Nunney or some or one of you, forthwith to remove and convey the said Benjamin Star from the said Parish of Nunney unto the Parish of Bradford aforesaid, and him to deliver to the Churchwardens and overseers of the Poor there, or to some of the, (together with this Order or a Duplicate or true Copy thereof) who is, and are hereby required to receive and provide for him-as the Law directs. and hereof you are not to fail, Given under our Hands and Seals the 28th day of March in the 39th Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third, King of Great Britain, &c. and in the Year of our Lord 1799."
