Person:Mary McCormick (60)

Mary Ann McCormick was born in about 1854 in New York, daughter of Peter and Mary McCormick. Unfortunately there appear to have been at least two Mary McCormicks in the New York censuses with parents called Peter and Mary, making it very difficult to trace Mary's early life confidently.

Mary was married in the early 1870s to an Irish building contractor named Michael Reid, whose first wife had died in 1872. Mary and Michael went on to have at least five children together, as well as raising Michael's children from his first marriage. The 1880 census finds the family living at 323 East 62nd Street in New York.

Mary died in New York on 14th February 1892. She was said to be 37 years old. She was buried at the city's Calvary Cemetery. Michael survived her by 26 years.
