- None of the records in which Ella has been found make explicit who her mother was - however, as the only plausible death for her father's first wife was in 1872 and Ella's first sighting in the 1880 census gives an age suggesting she was born in 1873 or 1874, we conclude that Ella's mother was Michael's second wife, Mary Ann McCormick.
