    Mary Lucille Kirk, age 90, of Midway, the Bibles Chapel Community, died Wednesday morning, March 19, 2014, at Durham-Hensley Health and Rehabilitation, Chuckey.

    She was born on August 25, 1923 in Midway, daughter of the late Henry Rufus Lowe, Sr. and Mary Burns Lowe.

    She was a housewife and had worked in nursing at Laughlin Hospital.

    Lucille was a member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church and attended Bibles Chapel Baptist Church for many years.

    She loved to travel with her family and friends; she also enjoyed quilting and working in the woodworking shop with her husband and helping on the family farm, alongside her husband and family.

    Survivors include three sons: Bobby and Reva Kirk of Mohawk, Jim and Jackie Kirk of Heiskell, TN, and Vernon and Virginia Kirk of Afton; five grandchildren and their spouses: Lisa and Tim Newton, Tony and Sonya Kirk, David and Angie Kirk all of Midway, Mike and Amy Kirk of Mohawk, Jerry and Karen Kirk of Knoxville; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews; special caregivers: Lois Smith, Staff of Durham-Hensley Health and Rehabilitation and Amedisys Hospice.

    Mrs. Kirk was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years: Robert E. Kirk, who died February 22, 2008; three sisters: Christina Masoner, Marie Brannon, and Mildred Kesterson; five brothers: Dock Gardner, Carmel Lowe, Orbin Lowe, George Lowe, and Henry R. Lowe, Jr.

    The family will receive friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Thursday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home.

    Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel. The Rev. Donnie Bible and the Rev. Ronnie Duncan will officiate. Entombment will follow in the Chapel Mausoleum at GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.

    Pallbearers will be David, Tony, Dylan, Andrew, Mike, and Jerry Kirk, Tim Newton, and Colbe Newton.

    Memorial contributions may be made to the Bibles Chapel Cemetery, c/o Diane Ragan, 30 Sinking Springs Road, Midway, TN, 37809.
