Mary E. and Ada Laffoon did not marry. At the close of their lives they lived together and died one day apart. Following a double funeral they were buried at Fish River Cemetery at the foot of their parents graves. Ada was afflicted and there are two stories of how this came about. One is that she developed diphtheria when she was a baby and the other one is that a small child came visiting at their house when Ada was a baby and gave her the whooping cough. Ada coughed so hard with this disease that she broke the soft spot in her head.
