[edit] Will of Mary Ann Mansell (1867)From the Office of Surrogate Morris County New Jersey, United States, A copy of the Last Will and Testament Of Mary Ann Mansell deceased, Office of Surrogate Morris County New Jersey. The last Will and testament of Mary Ann Mansell of the Town of Boonton N.J. In the name of God Amen, I Mary Ann Mansell of The Town of Boonton in the County of Morris and State of New Jersey being now in feeble bodily health but of sound mind memory and understanding for which blessing I thank God, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following, that is to say; First It is my will and I do order, that all my past debts and funeral Expenses be duly paid and satisfied by my Executors herein after named as soon as conveniently can be after my decease. Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Richard Mansell of the Town of Boonton a lot of land fronting on Birch Street thirty feet front and rear by thirty feet deep (the same on which his store and dwelling house now stands) Commencing at the southerly corner of said building on the Easterly line of Birch street running thence (1) in a westerly direction along the easterly line of said street thirty feet hence, (2nd) in a northerly direction parallel with Brook street thirty feet, thence (3) in an Easterly direction at right angles to Birch Street thirty feet, thence (4) in a southerly direction, parallel with Church street thirty feet to the joint of beginning, to have and to hold to his use and benefit during the term of his natural life, and at his decease to be equally divided to and between his lawful heirs share and share alike. Item: I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Jane S. Price wife of William Price now of the town of Boonton aforesaid the double one and a half story dwelling house in which I now reside together with the remainder of all that tract of land after deducting from it that proportion aforesaid tract included in my bequest to my son Richard Conveyed to me by the New Jersey Iron Company by deed dated July 15th 1845 recorded in the Clerks Office of the Morris County in Book H4 pages 160.1 to have and to hold to her own proper use and benefit during the term of her natural life, and at her decease to be equally divided to and between her lawful heirs share and share alike. Item: I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Eliza A. Richards wife of James Richards of the Town of Boonton, the first house of a row of three dwelling houses, situate in a north westerly direction from and on a line with the house in which I now reside together with so much of the land front and rear as properly belongs to it, to have and to hold to her own proper use and benefit during the term of her natural life, and at her decease to be equally divided to and between her lawful heirs share and share alike. Item: I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Elizabeth Sanders wife of George Sanders of the Town of Boonton, the second of a row of three dwelling houses, situate in a north westerly direction from and on a line with the house in which I now reside together with so much of land as properly belongs to it both front and rear to have and to hold to her own proper use and benefit during the term of her natural life, and at her decease to be equally divided to and between her lawful heirs share and share alike. Item: I give and bequeath unto my beloved grandson Thomas Norton son of Josephus Norton and Mary Ann Norton now of the City of Montreal Canada the third of a row of three dwelling houses together with so much land as properly belongs to it, situate in a north westerly direction from and on a line with the house in which I now reside to have and to hold to him and his heirs forever These three last named buildings all stand on a part of a tract of land conveyed to me by Silas Cook Jun. by a deed dated January 29th 1842 ?? in front of these buildings and now connected therewith lies a portion of a tract of land conveyed to me by Beryl Suffield by a deed dated April 19th 1847. Now it is my will, and I do so order it that all that portion of both these tracts not heretofore devised by me, shall be by my Executors hereinafter named as equitably divided to and between these three dwelling houses as its location will admit of. And also that a equitable entrance and passage may from Birch Street shall always be kept open for the free use and common benefit of the occupants of all three of these said dwelling houses. Item: I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Mary Ann Norton wife of Josephus Norton now of the city of Montreal Canada all that portion of the aforesaid Cook tract of land together with all the buildings and improvements made thereon, situate on the Easterly side of Brook street in said Town of Boonton located within the limits of the fence by which it is at present enclosed to have and to hold to her own proper use and benefit during the term of her natural life, and at her decease to be equally divided to and between her lawful heirs share and share alike. Item: I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Jane S. Price aforesaid and Mary Ann Norton aforesaid that tract of land and premises situate in the suburbs of of the Town of Boonton conveyed to me by William Brait and Helen Carsons by a deed dated August 13th 1866 to be equally divided to and between them share and share alike. to have and to hold to their own proper use and benefit during the term of their natural lives, and at their decease to be equally divided to and between their lawful heirs share and share alike. Item: It is my further will and I do order it, that immediately after my decease my Executors hereinafter named shall sell or cause to be sold my equal and undivided one half share of a certain lot or tract of land 50 x100 feet situate in Hunterdon Street in the city of Newark in Essex County and State of New Jersey conveyed to me and my son Richard by Joseph Cooper and Jane his wife by a deed dated April 7th 1866 together with all the household furniture remaining in my possession at the time of my decease and dispose of the proceeds thereof in manner following that is to say. First they shall appropriate so much of the proceeds of said sale as may be necessary to construct a good and substantial iron fence around my burial lot in Boonton Cemetery and to erect thereon a new and appropriate monument to my memory. The balance then remaining from said sale of land and household furniture shall be equally divided between Joanna Mansell wife of my son Richard my sister Ann Norton both now of the town of Boonton and the trustees of the Methodist church likewise of the town of Boonton, share and share alike. Item: In case any of my children herein named should diewithout lawful issue then I order and my will is that the portion herein devised or bequeathed to such child or children shall be equally divided between the remainder of my said children in equal portions share and share alike. Lastly I hereby appoint my beloved son in law William Price and my trusty and well beloved friend Albert Crane (both of the town of Boonton) Executors of this my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I have herewith set my hand and seal this tenth day of October in the year of our Lord On Thousand Eight hundred and Sixty Seven.
