A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Elaine Crumrine, 94, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M., Monday, December 18, 2023, with Fr. Mike Gentry as celebrant. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mary died at the Selma Markowitz Care Center of Hospice of Central Ohio on Tuesday, December 12, 2023. She was born in Newark, Ohio on November 17, 1929, to the late James and Elizabeth (Frizza) Jeffries.
A lifelong parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Church and 1947 graduate of St. Francis High School, Mary was devoted to both her faith and community. Over the years she volunteered in many capacities within the church as well as the school cafeteria, always greeting you with her kind smile.
She had a great work ethic and worked alongside her siblings in the family business, Jeffries Supply Company, where she served as their bookkeeper. Family was an important part of Mary’s life, and it seemed she was always heading to a family event or athletic competition to show her continued support to her children and their families.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Barb Abraham; sons, Steven, Donald (Jackie Saunders), Michael J. (Kim) and Jeffrey (Joan) Crumrine; 13 grandchildren, Kendra Crumrine (Darrell Moss), Kristin (Will) Thress, Katie (Jon) Fisher, Kyle Crumrine, Adam Abraham (Jill Hopson), Morgan (Paul) Sutton, Erika (Corey) Myers, Jessica (Adam) Bair, Kelsey (Michael) Vetrano, Madison Crumrine (Drake Nance), Claudia Crumrine (Jake Priest), Colin Crumrine, Anna Crumrine; 15 great-grandchildren, Dustin Faller, Devan Faller, Dane Faller, Dylan Faller, Noah Sutton, Emersyn Sutton, Aaron Abraham, AJ Abraham, Daniel Ben-Artzi, Alex Ben-Artzi, Barrett Fisher, Gianna Fisher, Mckenna Thress, Maddox Thress, Matteo Thress, Miles Myers and Lena Bair ; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, D. William Crumrine; brothers and sisters-in-law, Warren (Joann) Jeffries, Joseph (Anna Mae) Jeffries, Hugh (Roxy) Jeffries, and Theodore Jeffries; sisters, Julia Jeffries, Clara (William) Yoo, and Louise (Ted) Curtis; infant siblings, Elaine Jeffries and Hugh F. Jeffries; and one granddaughter, Alexis Abraham.
