Mary Jane Gohn Obituary Added by dareklett on 16 Nov 2007 May 2, 1927 - March 9, 2000 Mary Jane Gohn, 72, of 125 S. Fulton St., Cassopolis, MI, passed away on March 9 at home after a brief illness.
Mary Jane was born in Elkhart, IN on May 2, 1927. She was the daughter of Lorel and Aileen Holtz and the sister of Jim Holtz, all deceased and Dorothy Womble of Niles, MI, who survives. Mary Jane married her husband, George, on May 30, 1948 in Cassopolis and lived her entire live in Cassopolis. Mary Jane is survived by her husband, George; two daughters Barbara Parrish of Edwardsburg, MI and Nancy Wiseman and her husband Doug, of Granger, IN and by a son, Jim Gohn of Dowagiac, MI.
Also surviving are two adopted sons, Bruce Tucker of Cassopolis and Andy Payne of Cottontown, TN; two grandsons Martin Parrish of Edwardsburg and Nathan Gohn of Fremont, IN; two granddaughters, Jenna Gohn of Fremont and Jodie Ackerman of Fort Wayne, IN; two great granddaughters, Lindsay and Lauren Ackerman of Fort Wayne; and many nieces and nephews. Mary Jane attended Michigan State University and worked for Judge Eby, Eby Shoe Store and Gohn Drug Store. Mary Jane was active in the Home Ec Club, was a troop leader for Girl Scouts, Den Mother for Cub Scouts and enjoyed bowling, canning vegetables and feeding the wild birds. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 14, at 2 p.m. in the Connelly Funeral Home, Cassopolis. Officiating will be Mary Jane's pastor, Rev. Donald R. Ferris of the United Methodist Church of Cassopolis and the church's former pastor, Rev. Charles R. Van Lente of the North Lawn United Methodist Church, Grand Rapids. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Hospice at Home, Stevensville, MI, or to the United Methodist Church, Cassopolis.
