- Mary Edmondson was very probably the daughter of John Haile of Essex whose will, dated August 17, 1744, mentions his daughter Mary Edmondson. He named five other children: Francis Haile, John Haile, Thomas Haile, Benjamin Haile and Susanna Allen.John Haile’s wife would appear to be Mary Haile who with John Haile presented the will for probate Oct. 16, 1744. Wife Mary Haile and son John Haile were executors. James Allen and Andrew Allen were witnesses. Francis Haile (Hale) was likely the man who replaced Bryant Edmondson as overseer of the road in Caroline County, Virginia.(See WILLS OF ESSEX COUNTY, p. 214).Hailes moved to Bedford County where Elizabeth Edmondson, daughter of Richard, was married to Richard Haile who died in 1784.
