Obituary

Mary Jane Faulkner daughter of George and Julia Ann Green Faulkner was born in Plymouth township, December 24, 1947. She passed from this life January 15, 1929, aged 81 years, 21 days.

She was born on the farm on which she spent her entire life. She became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church at Pleasant Grove at the age of sixteen, later transferring her membership to the Shelby Methodist church of which she was a faithful attendant as long as her health permitted. She was a woman of high ideals which she tried to impress upon her children. She was a faithful and loving wife and mother. On March 4, 1878 she was united in marriage to Samuel Gutshall to which seven children were born, George S. Gutshall of Chattanooga, Okla., Anna J. Cashman of Shelby, Ivan B. Gutshall of Santa Paula, Cal., Ethel M. Myers of Albuquerque, N. M. Viva B. Bevier of Tiro and Nina M. Baker of Shelby. Also seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son Ray C. Gutshall who lost his life in France fighting for the cause of his country, also three sisters and two brothers. One brother George W. Faulkner of Santa Paula, Cal., survives and a host of relatives and friends.
