Mary Alice Shultz

Mary Alice "Skipper" Shultz, 91, of 56 Lincoln Rd, died Friday, Sept. 2 7, 2002, in Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.

She was born June 27, 1911, in Tiffin to Wm and Laura (Douwalter) Esche r; they are both deceased. She married Gilbert Shultz June 25, 1935, in S t. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin. He died March 5, 1974.

Survivors include: two sons, Gil Shultz of Northville MI, and James C Shu ltz of Chicago; a daughter, Mary Lou "Corky" Scherer of Bloomville; sev en grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were: a granddaughter, Kathy; a brother, Jo hn Escher; and a sister, Fanny Lou Escher.

She graduated from Calvert High School; received a BA degree from Heidelbe rg College; and attended Ursuline Academy in Tiffin. She was a teach er of science and taught 35 years in Tiffin St. Joseph, Fostoria St. Wende lin and New Riegel Schools.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, chairman and secreta ry of Tiffin Shade Tree and Beautification Commission, charter member Mer cy Hospital Auxiliary and volunteer, past-president of Seneca CO Retired T eachers Association, past-president and past 2nd vice president Heidelbe rg N Central Science Society, president St. Joseph Rosary-Altar Society, p ast-president Seneca CO Teachers Association, past-president Betty Jane, a nd a member of St. Francis Auxiliary. She received the 1972 Science Awa rd "Teacher of the Year" from the OH Academy of Science N Central Distri ct and did volunteer services for Mercy Hospital, Betty Jane, Info Cent er and many others.

Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with t he Rev. James K Say officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church, where t he Rosary will be said at 12:45 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospital of Tiffin.
