    KRUMRINE MARY LOUISE (nee ELLIOTT) 89, of Philadelphia, PA, died on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at her home at The Watermark on Logan Square in Phila.. She was born on Oct. 23, 1931 in Phila., a daughter of Clifford Lawson Elliott and Louise Barbara Wendt. She married Jack Milton Krumrine in 1955, who preceded her in death in 1995. She married James F. Tammen in 1997, they were divorced several years later, and he preceded her in death in 2010.

    She is survived by three daughters, Jane Lawson-Bell (husband Edward Bell) of Phila., Christina Krumrine (husband PJ Posner) of New York City, and Anne M. Krumrine of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Patrick Bell, Alexander Bell, Marianna Krumrine, Lucy Posner, and Jack Posner. She was preceded in death by her son, John N. Krumrine II, and her sister Barbara Bailey.

    Mary Lou graduated from Philadelphia High School for Girls in 1949. She received a B.S. in Medical Technology from Penn State University in 1953, and then worked for two years as an Analytical Chemist at DuPont in Wilmington, DE. Following their marriage, Mary Lou and Jack moved to State College, where the Krumrine family had resided since the Revolutionary War.

    After many years as a homemaker and mother to four children, Mary Lou returned to Penn State University to study Art History and earned a M.A. in 1978 and a Ph.D. in 1984. Her primary focus was the Bather compositions by Paul Cezanne, which became the subject of her doctoral thesis.

    In 1989, she was guest curator for the exhibition "Paul Cezanne: Die Badenden" at the Kunstmuseum in Basel, Switzerland. In addition to the exhibition catalogue, Mary Lou published articles on Michelangelo, Correggio, El Greco, and Goya. From 1990-1997, she was Associate Professor of Art History at Penn State University, University Park.

    From 1973-1977, Mary Lou was a member of the Board of Directors for Friends of the Palmer Museum at Penn State, serving as President from 1975-1976. Also at Penn State, she was awarded The Philip Philip Mitchell Alumni Service Award in 1988, and was named an Alumni Fellow in 1990. After returning to live in Philadelphia, Mary Lou served as a member of the Board of Trustees at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts from 2002-2010. And for many years, she was a member of St. Peter's Church, Phila.

    A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 4th at KOCH FUNERAL HOME, 2401 S. Atherton Street, State College, PA.
