Mary Dawborn was born on 16th April 1762, daughter of Ann Dawborn, formerly Butterfunt, and her husband Hugh Dawborn. She was baptised when she was three years old at Woburn in Bedfordshire.

Mary’s father died in November 1784.

On 1st April 1793, aged 30, Henry married Mary Daughborn at Woburn. They do not appear to have had any children.

Mary’s mother died in July 1798.

Henry died at the age of 42, being buried at Woburn on 24th February 1803.

Mary survived him. There were two widows called Mary Meakins living in Woburn after 1803, and it has not been possible to establish which is which in later records. It seems that one of them died in 1806, being buried at Woburn on 26th November 1806, when this Mary would have been 44 years old. The other married a Joseph Negus of Bedford at Woburn on 9th October 1804, and was quite likely the Mary Negus buried at Woburn on 16th April 1811, which would have been this Mary’s 49th birthday.

    Baptisms / 4 Dec 1765: Mary d Hugh & Ann Dawborn, born 16 Apr 1762

Baptised same day as sister Ann (born 18 Oct 1765). This baptism has been linked to the Mary Daughborn who married Henry Meakins on the basis that it is in the same parish and at a plausible time. There is no burial record at Woburn to indicate that the Mary baptised in 1765 died young, nor any alternative marriage record for her there.
