About Mary Lou (Crutchfield) Calhoun

Mary Lou Crutchfield was born in about 1941, probably in Callao, Macon County, Missouri. Her mother, Leota (Stacy) Crutchfield pre-deceased her on 20 December 2001 near Mary Lou's home in La Habra, California.

Mary Lou married 2nd, Tony Calhoun (she was his second wife); she pre-deceased him.

Mary joined Certified Grocers (later known as Unified Grocers) of California in 1969 and she worked there for 35 years, retiring in January 2004 as the Frozen/Ice Cream Buyer. She was an exemplary employee with a spotless record during her tenure at Certified/Unified, and was well-liked by all of her co-workers and friends.

Mary helped to take care of her husband, Tony, who was bed-ridden with diabetes and gangreen, for several years before she contracted lung cancer in about 2008. After a several month battle with lung and brain cancer, Mary succommed on 18 November 2010, the day after she was admitted to a local nursing home near Los Angeles.

She is survived by her husband Tony, her step-children Melanie and Tony (children from Tony's 1st marriage), a son, Michael Calhoun (who was Mary's son from her first marriage, and was adopted by Mary's 2nd husband Tony Calhoun), Michael's wife Margaretta, and a grandson, Gabriel.

   Mary Lou Calhoun, 69, of La Habra, CA, passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2010, in the Park Vista at the Morningside Nursing Home, in Fullerton, CA. Mary was born on October 26, 1941, in Missouri, the daughter of William "Bill" and Leota (Stacy) Crutchfield. She married Everett Calhoun in California. Mary loved her dogs and visiting with family. Mary is survived by her husband, Everett, a son, Michael "Mike" Calhoun and wife, Margarita of La Habra, two grandchildren, Gabriel and Kyra Calhoun, one uncle; Larry Stacy and wife, Jane of Bevier, MO, one aunt, Maxine Moss of Macon, MO, and several nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, and infant brother, William. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday December 1, 2010, at 10:00 am, at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Callao, MO. Services are under the direction of the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Macon. Memorials can be left to the Humane Society
