Obituary

Mary Carla Ashton, "Carla" of Gaithersburg, MD, passed away at home on February 4th, 2016, at the age of 67. She was preceded in death by her parents Margaret Anne Clifton and Cody Joseph Clifton of Baltimore, MD. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Thomas Ashton; her daughter Heidi Miles and son-in-law T.J. Miles; her three grandchildren, Tommy, Bridget, and Levi; her siblings Michael, Jim and Joanne; and many other relatives and friends.

Carla was a bright and beautiful soul who enjoyed art, the beach, and making people laugh. She worked for Shady Grove Orthopedic Associates for over thirty years as a Medical Secretary. Carla was a loving person who cared deeply for her friends and family. She adored her grandkids, who she affectionately referred to as "the cupcakes".

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 11th, at 11 a.m., in the Main Church at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, located at 11701 Clopper Road, Gaithersburg, MD 20878 (http://strose-parish.org/) There will be a luncheon reception immediately following the service in the Woodlands Room, the building right next to the Main Church. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to Montgomery Hospice (www.montgomeryhospice.org/donate-and-support) or the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org).
