Mary Catherine Smith was a very religious person. When able to do so, she attended mass every day of her life. She crocheted alter cloths for Blessed Sacrament Church. She worked the Friday night card parties for the Sodality of the church. She sent fresh breads and cakes to the Nuns of the parish school. She raised her children in the Catholic faith and principles, her daughter, Mary, became a Nun in the order of the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Baltimore, Md.

The house at 4732 Old York Road was her's.

At the time of her death, she was still receiving a Spanish/ American War Pension from her husbands service.[Flanagan Family]
