Mary Bayes of S. Lopham, wid. Mar. 1698. (Campling)

Maiden name may not be BAYES as she is described as a widow by Campling.

1717 - Will written by Mary WOMACK, widow of John WOMACK, of South Lopham. It appears that there are no surviving children from her marriage to John. Among the beneficiaries of Mary's will is cousin "Katherine WOMACK, daughter of Margaret WOMACK of North Lopham". Although not exactly a cousin, this reference confirms the close connection between the two families. In the will, Mary leaves all her real estate and the residue of her personal estate to John's daughter Elizabeth who she makes sole Executrix, to be supported by Mary's "good friend" John HOUSEY of South Lopham as "Supervisor".

Specific bequests are made to: John BURROUGHS, yeoman of Copcroft, Norfolk (kinsman), 3 pounds, also 2s 6d to each of his children (unnamed); Prudence SELFE of Winfarthing, Norfolk, 40s as and when she becomes a widow; John S/LEOVALD, yeoman of Wickam Skeith, Suffolk, 3 pound; George S/LEOVALD (brother of above), 40s; Katherine WOMACK, cousin, daughter of Margaret WOMACK of North Lopham, 20s; Mary SURGEON, daughter of James of Whepstone, Suffolk, 20s; John WOMACK, clerk, son of late husband John, one guinea to buy a ring; All servants living with her at the time of her death, 20s each; The poor of South Lopham, 20s.

Unusually, her will states that all the legacies, except the last, must be made at her in her dwelling house in South Lopham.
