Following what seemed at first a slight stroke of paralysis suffered two weeks ago, Mrs. Mary Bateman Foil died Friday evening, October 5, at the residence of Mrs. James Fussell with whom she was at the time making her home. Deceased was always frail, though active, rarely ever really sick. While rising from a chair where she rested as she waited to be served by a local merchant, she stumbled forward and fell, those going to her assistance thinking she had merely fainted. She was removed to her home and it was later discovered she had suffered a stroke from which she never fully rallied, though at one time her speech grew a little intelligable and she was partially conscious several times. Every care and attention were given by relatives and friends thru the three weeks of constant nursing, but her strength was not sufficient to wage a long battle and she quietly "fell asleep" to await the glorious Resurrection morning. Mrs. Foil was 63 years old, was a member of the Baptist church since her early youth and lived a consistent Christian life thru more than two score years. She was modest and retiring in her habits but always a faithful and regular attendant upon her church services. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Foil Camp and Miss Gertrude Foil; two brothers, Frank B. Bateman and J. L. Bateman; a sister, Mrs. Lou Talley and a large number of nieced and nephews. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. D. Carroll on Saturday morning from the Baptist church, interment following in Ellis cemetery.
