"Mary Baldwin, b. say 1665. She was the daughter of Joseph Baldwin, Jr., who was presented in court in January 1677 for wearing silk contrary to law. She was mentioned in her father's probate as daughter Mary Baldwin. As 'Mary Balding' she was married by Joseph Hawley of Northampton, justice for Hampshire County, 14 July 1687 to Samuel Allen, b. Northampton 3 Jan. 1665/6; d. Coventry, Conn., in 1717; son of Nehemiah and Sarah (Woodford) Allen. On 15 Dec. 1692 Joseph Hawley married Samuel Allen to Mercy Wright. Northampton Vital Records show that Samuel Allen had a son Samuel, b. 29 May 1688, and a daughter Mary, b. 6 Feb. 1689[/90]. Thus Mary3 (Baldwin) Allen must have d. between Feb. 1689/90 and Dec. 1692."
