    Mary Briscoe Baldwin Donaghe
    Birth: Nov. 18, 1800
    Death: Jun. 28, 1879

DEATH OF A VENERABLE LADY. — Mrs. Mary Briscoe Donaghe, relict of the late Wm. W. Donaghe, Esq., of this vicinity, died in Harrisonburg on Saturday last, the 28th of June, and was buried, from the Episcopal church of Staunton, in Thornrose Cemetery on Sunday at 6 o'clock P. M

She had reached the advanced age of 80 years. She was born in the county of Fredrick, and was sister of the late Judge Briscoe G. Baldwin and Dr. Stuart Baldwin, and mother of Dr. B. B. Donaghe of Staunton, Mrs. Jouet Gray of Harrisonburg, Miss. Mary Donaghe, and Wm. W. Donaghe, dec'd. She was married in early life, and removed to the vicinity of Staunton, where the greater part of her life was spent, and there she was esteemed and beloved by-all for her many virtues.

Her long life was spent in doing good. She aided the poor; comforted the afflicted, counseled the erring. Her generous and noble nature was purified and exalted by her eminent piety, and her Christian love embraced all of whatever station or condition in life. Her memory will be embalmed in the gratitude of the recipients of her kind benefactions. To her children and others who mourn there irreparable loss, there are sources of consolation too obvious to be overlooked, and which cannot fail to mitigate their grief.

She discharged well and faithfully all the duties of life, and lived beyond the age allotted by the Psalmist as the limit of human life. Her work on earth was finished, and her frail body needed the repose to which it has been consigned. She faithfully bore the Cross, and triumphantly won the Crown which she now wears. — Staunton Spectator.
