Facts and Events
Sarah Standifer microfilm notes LDS says she has additional given names: Caroline Savannah. Patti Paine Andrews cites undocumented information: birth probably in Jones Co., Georgia and according to Pattie Brannon "was reared in comfort and ease and enjoyed the best privileges of her day being educated at Levert College in Talbotton, Georgia, the best in Georgia in that day and which is still standing today, May 1917, as I have recently talked to an old resident there." She married Hartwell Jones Wash December 1 1841. According to Morelle Wash Credille in a letter to Patti Paine Andrews, Collin sent his daughter, Mary Elizabeth, six slaves as a wedding present although he did not approve of her marriage to Hartwell. She sent them back to him. This agreement (?) was recorded in the Randolph Co., Georgia courthouse in 1848 - slaves listed were Till 26, Ike 10, Med 8, Miles 5, Dooter 1, and Grace 13. Mary Elizabeth died February 9, 1869. |
