Marvyn H. 'Marv' Touse 87, of Atwood Lake, passed away on Monday, Oct. 28, 2013. He was born in Utica, N.Y. on March 3, 1926 to the late Oscar P. and Madge Touse. He served in the Naval Air Corps, and then graduated from Cornell University in 1948 with a Bachelors of Engineering degree. He worked for the Slawson Equipment Company until he retired. Marv married Marilu Lawler, the love of his life, on June 28, 1951 in Oneida, N.Y. They met as children and had a long courtship. Together they had three children and shared with them their passion for learning, sailing, travel, and the importance of family and friends. They raised their children in North Canton and spent summers at Atwood Lake, where Marv and his son built their cottage. After the passing of his wife, Marv moved to Atwood Lake and spent winters in St. Pete Beach, Fla. Marv enjoyed special relationships with his family, looked forward to dinners with his close friends, and was always up for a good conversation with family and friends. He was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, the Atwood Yacht Club, the National Society of Professional Engineers, and the Elks New Philadelphia, Ohio B.P.O.E. #510. Marv was preceded in death by his wife, Marilu Lawler Touse in 1991. He is survived by his daughters, Marcia (Scott) Barchalk and Melissa (Mike) Rife, all of Jackson Township; son, Jim (Patty) Touse of Birmingham, Ala.; and grandchildren, Chris, Mike (Alyssa) and Kate Barchalk, Mitchell and Matthew Rife, and Jennifer and Sarah Touse. Following cremation, the family is planning a private memorial service. Interment will be in the St. Mark's Episcopal Church Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to a charity of the donor's choice .
