Marvin was born January 17, 1938, to John and Alma (Soulek) Chmela on a farm about 20 miles southwest of Kimball, SD. He attended school through the third grade at Gullickson School and then attended the Petula School through the eighth grade. He then farmed with his father on their farm.On November 19, 1062, he married Joanne Rybak at Kimball, SD. They moved to their own farm 13 miles southwest of Kimball where he lived and farmed ever since. In addition to farming, he raised registered Labrador dogs for the past six years.Marvin passed away unexpectedly Friday, January 2, 2004, in his sleep at his home.He is survived by his wife, Joanne; one daugher, Renee and her husband, Dan; and two sons, Dave and his wife, Mary and Ronnie and his wife, Jean; one grand-daughter, Ashley; three grandsons, Tyler, Kyle and Dylan; two step-grandsons, Kelly and Zachary. He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lori, who died in 1971; a sister, Karen DeJong; an infant brother, Maynard; and a step-grandson, Kevin Boik, who died September 27, 1997 Misc |
