Mrs. Martha Louisa Armstrong the subject of this sketch was born in this village July 15, 1849, daughter of the late Hamilton and Josephine Wilson, and died March 12, 1926 at 2:30 a.m. She was paralyzed Dec. 17, 1925 and from that time until her death was an invalid, tenderly cared for by her daughter, Mrs. John Mohler and son, Wilbur. Although she rallied from the first stroke and was able to sit in a wheel chair part of the time, she gradually grew worse and for three weeks prior to her death was in a state of coma, except at short intervals. She was converted in early life and joined the M.E. Church, South, was a kind neighbor, loyal to her friends and a lover of home. She was united in marriage to the late Alfred Armstrong, (whom she survived several years) Dec. 25, 1869, and to this union were born six children, Mrs. John Mohler, Ruth, Wilbur C., Mrs. Arthur Whitmore, Olin Clay and Marvin H. all of whom survive except Ruth and were present at the funeral. She is also survived by one brother, John Wilson, of Baltimore. Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. F.L. Morrison, Saturday at 2 p.m. The floral offerings were beautiful.
