Martha Wiggs was baptised on 20th September 1818 at Great Wymondley in Hertfordshire, daughter of an agricultural labourer called William Wiggs and his wife Susanna. The 1841 census finds Martha living with her father at Walsworth in the neighbouring parish of Hitchin.

On 5th July 1844 Martha was married at Hitchin to Joseph Worbey. They do not appear to have had any children.

Martha died when she was only about 32 years old. She was buried at Great Wymondley on 7th July 1850. Joseph survived her by about six years.
