Facts and Events
Martha Venables' origins are unknown. Her first sighting is on 20th October 1753, when she married a man named Thomas Archer at St Paul's Walden in Hertfordshire. The couple had three daughters baptised at St Paul's Walden between 1755 and 1761, but the first two died as babies. Thomas died in 1782, when he was described as a carpenter of Church End. Martha outlived him by just over two years, being buried at St Paul's Walden on 18th March 1784. She was recorded as having lived at the workhouse at the time of her death. References
