OBITUARY MRS. MARTHA CONN. While spending a holiday in Sydney With Mr. and Mrs. John Lawson, of Quarry-lane, Wallsend, Mrs. Martha Conn, wife of Mr. John Conn, senr., a respected Wallsend resident of many years. standing, took ill suddenly at the residence in South Kensington, of Mrs. D. Blair, Mrs Lawson's sister, and died two days' later in the Coast Hospital. She was in her 72nd year, There was a large attendance at the funeral, which proceeded from the residence in Boscowen street, Wallsend, of her daughter, Mrs. A. H. Roberts. Pastor Salton, of the Seventh. Day Adventists Church, of which Mrs. Conn had been a devoted member for 30, years, officiated ,at the graveside, in the Wallsend cemetery. Four grandsons - Frank and Jack Conn, William McDonald, and Harold Austin - acted as pall bearers. Wreaths were received from her loving husband, and Mr. Robson, Alf, Letitia, Vera, and Bonnie, Annie, Jim and family; Liz,. Joe, and family; Flo Tom, and family; Joe, Florrie, and family; Alf, Doris, and children, and Pat; brother Bill and Will Parkinson; Mr. and Mrs. John, Lawson;, Mrs Hewish (Medical School, Sydney University), Dulcie, Ray, and little Raymond; Mr. and Mrs.; George Blair; members of Wallsend ,Bowling Club; Wallsend Amblance Class; members, of Seventh Day Adventist Church. Wallsend; Mr. and Mrs. E. Love (Cessnock), Mr. and Mrs. W. Robertson (Belmont); Harry, Wansey. (Newcastle); Mr. and Mrs. Hughes (Swanson); . Mr and Mrs. C. J. Haydon: Mr. and Mrs. Crampton, junr., and family. Mrs. Conn was a Native of Geelong, Victoria but had lived in Wallsend from early childhood. She was married in the Wallsend Methodist Church, 55 years ago. Twenty five years go she took up maternity nursing, but failing health precluded her acceptance of further service in that direction, some years ago. Mr. Conn, her husband, was one of the victims of a shot-firing accident in the Wallsend Colliery, about 34 years ago. His working mate, Mr. Mawkes was fatally injured, while he suffered the loss of his sight. Members of the family include Mrs. A. H. Roberts (Wallsend), Mrs. J. McDonald (Barnsley), Mrs. J. Dow (Wallsend), Mrs. T. G. Steel (Swansea), and Messrs. J. P., J. W. and J. O. Conn, all of Wallsend Grandchildren of Mrs. Conn number 24. 'There are two great-grandchildren.
