Albany, Or. May 7 (Special) -- Six grown sons of Mrs. Martha Ann Wood, who died at her home in this city yesterday, acted as pallbearers at her funeral here yesterday. Nine grown children in all were present. The seven sons present were: S. M. Wood and H. F. Wood of Corvallis; J. A. Wood, W. L.Wood and E. T. Wood, of Albany; G. E. Wood of Eugene, and A. B. Wood, of Salem. Mrs George Dixon of Corvallis, and Mrs. August Becker, of Portland, the daughters, were also present. Henry Wood of Milwaukie, a son, was not present.

Mrs. Wood was one of the most prominent pioneers of Benton County. With her husband she settled in Blodgett Valley in 1852. Blodgett station, is on land owned and developed by Mr. Wood.

Mrs. Wood endured many of the hardships of pioneer life and passed through exciting experiences with Indians and other incidents of frontier life. Mr. and Mrs. Wood lived in Blodgett Valley continuously 45 years. They moved to Independence, where they lived two years, and came to Albany 10 years ago.

Mrs. Wood was born in Missouri in 1832 and was married to Hiram Wood on her 17th birthday, December 20, 1849.
