Martha Wendle. of 323 Lycoming Street, died early this morning at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. R. H. Brower No. 1042 High street, aged 81 years. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Brower, of this city, Mrs. J. G. Long of Wilmington, Del. and Mrs. J. K. Crawford, of Renovo. Funeral services will he held Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the residence of her daughter on High street. Interment will be made in Wildwood. Mrs. Wendle, who was the widow of Charles Wendle, had lived at No. 323 Lycoming street for more than half a century. In front of her home stands a magnificent horse chestnut tree which was the special pride of Mr. and Mrs. Wendle during their lives and recalled to them the stirring days of the Civil war, as a few hours after the tree was planted, nearly fifty years ago, the news was received in Williamsport that the Confederate troops had invaded Pennsylvania. Mrs. Wendle frequently spoke of this incident as she pointed out the tree to friends who were admiring it on account of its beauty and great sweeping of limbs which almost span Lycoming street. H. Brower of 1??2 High street. She was aged 81 years. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Brower, of this city, Mrs. J. G. Long of Wilmington, Del. and Mrs. J. K. Crawford, of Renovo. The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon from Mrs. Brower's resident. Interment will be made in Wildwood Cemetery. The deceased livid for more than a half century at 323 Lycoming street.
