Obituary: Martha L. Misciagna, age 91, of Garvey Manor, formerly of Norristown, died May 16, 2008 at Altoona Hospital. Born on July 29, 1916 in Conshohocken, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Alfonsina (Coletta) Misciagna. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Norristown, and St. Philip Neri, Lafayette Hill. Martha was a member of Altar and Rosary Society. She retired from The Times Herald in Norristown as a proofreader. She enjoyed her family, homemaking and was a avid baker. She is survived by three nephews, Michael Ercole and wife Colleen of East Freedom, Donald Sassi and wife Pauline of Lafayette Hill, and Peter Misciagna and wife Christine of Hudson, Fla.; also many cousins. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ercole and Cecilia Sassi; three brothers, Victor, James and Daniel and a nephew Richard Ercole. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Chapel, Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg with Father Regis Myers officiating, Interment New St. Matthews Cemetery, Conshohocken at 11 a.m. Thursday. Martha L. Misciagna, 91, Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Norristown, died Friday morning at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus. She was born in Conshohocken, daughter of the late Peter and Alfonsia (Coletta) Misciagna. Surviving are three nephews: Michael Ercole and wife, Colleen, of East Freedom, Donald Sassi and wife, Pauline, of Lafayette Hills and Peter Misciagna and wife, Christine, of Hudson, Fla.; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Ercole and Cecilia Sassi; three brothers: Victor, James and Daniel; and a nephew, Richard Ercole. Miss Misciagna retired as a proofreader from the Times Herald newspaper, Norristown. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Norristown, and St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Lafayette Hills, and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed her family and was a homemaker and avid baker. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Chapel, Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg, by Father Regis Myers. A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at New St. Matthew’s Cemetery, Conshohocken. Arrangements are by Sorge Funeral Home, Hollidaysburg (www.sorgefuneralhome.com). |
