Martha was born in the home of Mr. & Mrs. Tobias Hipple, her grandparents, on the corner of Cherry & Madison Streets in Paris, IL. She did not have a birth certificate. On 16 April 1942, Kate McCullough went with her Edgar County courthouse in Paris, IL, and applied for a birth certificate for her daughter.
