After John died, Martha was a seamstress for local merchant George K Jones to support her family. She had 4 children (2 died as infants) with John W. Gilley = Hardin C., William, George Robert, & Anna John Flanagan. She remarried to David H. Roland on Feb 12, 1871 and had 1 son, Walter "Matt" Roland abt 1874. She died Sept 28, 1874 in Ridgeway and may have died after giving birth to Matt. Matt had a son, Dave Roland.

Martha Ann Covington Gilley Roland was my great-great-grandmother. She married David H. Roland on 2/12/1871. They had one son, Matthew Creed Roland, (born April 8, 1873, died January 1, 1953). They had one daughter, Fannie Jane Roland Miles, (born February 28, 1874, died March 16, 1927).

Matthew Creed Roland was my great-grandfather. He married Bettie Miles Roland (born August 28, 1870, died September 25, 1950). They had one daughter, Bessie Roland Chaney (born October 4, 1894, died February 18, 1951). They had one son, David Harrison Roland (born May 11, 1897, died July 13, 1985). David Harrison Roland was my grandfather.

David H. Roland died of unknown causes in 1879. He died in Henry County, Virginia. After his death, the custody of his and Martha's children was given to David's son, George W. Roland.
