    '... Miss Martha Allard, a native of [Jefferson] county, and born Sept. 15, 1845. The parents of Mrs. Snyder, Almon and Ann E. (Etheridge) Allard, were also natives of the Empire State, and are now [1888] dead.'

    The 1900 census gives her birth year as 1844, which is consistent with her age as given in other census records, and would make her 17 (almost 18) at marriage, and thus seems more likely.
