Wilkinson 91, a former mayor of Clinton, died early today at his home... He is survived by nephews... Fisk Wilkinson, Utica... [edit] ==============================================Utica Observer-Dispatch, 15 Mar 1973: DR. WILKINSON DIES; VETERINARIAN Dr. M. Fiske Wilkinson, 75, of 110 Eagle ST, oldest practicing veterinarian in this area and a former city meat inspector, died yesterday in Faxton Hospital. He was born in Clinton. He was educated in the Clinton schools and was a graduate of Hamilton College and the Cornell College of Veterinarians. He served as a lieutenant in World War I. In 1922 he married Ruth McCarthey. She died in 1946. In 1949 he married Jane Durgee Trosset. Dr. Wilkinson started his practice in New Hartford 50 years ago, moving to Utica in 1927. He was a Presbyterian. Dr. Wilkinson was the owner of the Limberlost Motel. He was a member and past master of the Oriental Lodge, F&AM; a member of the Mohawk Valley Consistory and the Ziyara Temple of the Shrine and a member of its caravan; past president of the State Veterinarian's Society; past commander of the Knights of Pythias; a member of the Utica Post, American Legion; Hostein-Fresian Association, Isaac Walton League and a former member of the Farm Bureau. He also was a member of the Square Club of the Masons. Besides his wife, he leaves a step-daughter, Mrs. Francis (Jane) Steates of New Hartford; a step-son, Robert F. Trosset of Rockledge FL; a sister, Mrs. Fred (Emma) Eames of Clinton and a brother, Henry Wilkinson of Chula Vista CA. During World War II an only son, Marshall Fiske Wilkinson, was killed in action. The funeral will be... Monday from the Surridge & Roberts Memorial Home. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. References
