Facts and Events
He was among the first class to graduate from Urbana's 12-yr. high school in 1896. He was also among the first graduates of Schraeder Academy, a junior college in Urbana. He earned his doctorate of medicine from University of Iowa in 1902. He practiced medicine for 57 years, serving on the staff of St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids, and Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids. He was a lifetime member of the Iowa Medical society.
In 1951, the town of Urbana honored him with "Dr Dingman Day, where they played a baseball game between Urbana and Walker-Center Point. It is reported that all of the players had been delivered as babies by Dr. Dingman. He was a member of the Urbana Christian church where he served as an elder. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Blue Lodge Consistory, Commandery and Shrine El Kahir Temple. |
