Mark McClammy migrated to Alabama from Georgia as soon as Alabama was opened to settlers; he is on the record as a taxpayer in Conecuh County in 1818; before he left Georgia, he married Nancy Johnsonand had one child, John Mark. Seven daughters were born in Alabama. Mark bought property bit by bit and extended his holdings until he had a good-sized plantation. He died right after the war in 1868, was buried in McClammy Family Cemetery, and can be found under about two and one-half feet of heavy rocks on the outside of the enclosed area.
