Marjorie (Marge) M. Norris passed away on July 20, 2015 in Lynnwood, Washington following a short illness. She was 89 years old. The former Marjorie Noonan was born in Platte Center, Neb., and attended Omaha University. She worked for the Nebraska Tuberculosis Association in Omaha. After moving to Seattle, she was employed at the U.S. Geological Survey in Tacoma, and later at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration at Sand Point in Seattle, from which she retired in 1988.
Marge’s husband Jack Norris is a native of Seattle, having graduated from West Seattle High School and Seattle University. The couple met aboard the Virginia “V” on a Chancellor Club cruise. They exchanged vows on May 1, 1948 at Holy Rosary Church in West Seattle. During their married life, they lived primarily in West Seattle, Bothell, and Bremerton, Washington, as well as homes in Florida, Colorado, California, and Texas. They traveled throughout the US, and to China and Europe. Marge was very proud of her Irish Catholic heritage, and especially enjoyed their visits to Ireland and Rome.
Marge loved to host family and friends for holidays and celebrations. Family was the center of her life, as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister. Her faith was constant and deep, and sustained her throughout her life.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents, Peter J. Noonan and Margaret Fuller Noonan, sister Virginia Noonan, and brother Sonny Noonan. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Jack Norris, son Michael (Karen) Norris, grandchildren Kevin (Brittany) Norris and Sarah Norris, and great-granddaughter Kinsley Norris; sisters Pat (Jerome, Deceased) Coupens, Evie (Don, Deceased) Murnan, and Dot (Del, Deceased) Rafferty; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Swedish Edmonds Hospital , and many family and friends who provided Marge with attentive care, welcome visits, and much love and support during her final days.
Recitation of the Rosary will be Monday, July 27th, at 10:15 AM followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM, BOTH at Our Lady of the Lake Church 8900 35th Ave. N. E., Seattle
