Marjorie Elizabeth Randolph, 76, of 786 Lenwood Road, Summerville, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, in Clarion Hospital following an extended illness. Born Feb. 8, 1925, in Dayton, Ohio, she was the daughter of Gordon and Dorothy Branscomb Hatcher. Mrs. Randolph had lived in Summerville for the past 14 years, moving there from Miami, Fla. She studied for three years at the Riverside Art Center, Riverside, Calif., and went on to become a very talented painter. While residing in Riverside, Mrs. Randolph was camp director for the Riverside Girl Scouts. She attended the First Baptist Church of Limestone. Mrs. Randolph was a homemaker and loved oil painting, birch trees and collecting antique glassware. She was married Dec. 1, 1951, to Maj. James L. Randolph, USAF retired. He survives. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a son and his wife, John and Dina Randolph of Riverside, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Alicia Jarvis of Warwick, R.I.; four grandchildren including twin grandsons, John and James Randolph of Riverside, Calif.; one granddaughter, Natalie Rohwer and her husband, Michael of Murrieta, Calif.; one stepgrandson, Brian Jarvis of Ogden, Iowa; and two great-grandchildren, Amber and Austin Rohwer of Murrieta, Calif. She also is survived by two brothers, Henry Hatcher of Lowell, Mass., and Bob Hatcher and his wife, Betty of Norfolk, Va.; three sisters, Marlene Brown and Bonnie Stafford and her husband, Howard, all of Dayton, Ohio, and Louise Avery and her husband, Larry, of Riverside, Calif.; two very dear friends, Patti Bell and Shirley Barker; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Randolph was preceded in death by one son, James Michael Randolph; two daughter, Eva Marie and Kathy Sue; a brother, Gordon Hatcher; and her mother-in-law, Mildred Randolph. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Varner Funeral Home, Sligo. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor Don Middleton of the First Baptist Church of Limestone, officiating. Interment will follow in Rimersburg Cemetery.
