  10. ↑ This conclusion is based on the pension notation in her death record, "Føderaad k.e Marith Hansd." in her death record indicates she is a pensioned woman and widowed. The pension would have been a contract linked to the home she and her husband had owned.
  11. ↑ This date was from a transcription of Louis Stuve's letter; so the number 1 could have been omitted from the date which should probably have been 14 Apr 1793.
  12. ↑ She was living at the Halla farm (called "Holden" in the census) in the household of her son, Hovel, and family. She was receiving a pension paid to the farm owner after cessatiion to heirs:

    Translation:
    Marit Hansd., pensioner's wife, widow, 73, female, Birthplace: Land
    Mari Hansd., Lodger, Dayworker, single, 70, female, Birthplace: Land
    The second elderly woman is probably Marit's sister. The name and age are right; however, the sister wasn't single; she had married Tollef Olsen (Stutlien, Etnedal) who died in 1833, and they had children.
  13. ↑ according to Boka om Land & Erik Hov, but the only death record found in 1878 was for her sister, Mari, who was born in 1796.
